This Unit 1 is devoted to an overview of dependability, its basic concepts (random variables, probabilities and fundamental parameters), the general approach with its stages and associated tools, as well as the fundamental primary techniques: functional analysis, inductive methods (HAZOP, FMEA, etc.) and sequential models (cause-and-effect diagrams, event trees).
